Our Phoenix Solutions recruiting process is designed to not only determine whether a candidate has the right skills, but also the right attitude to work for our firm. The interview questions we ask tend to elicit key details about their ambitions and how they view themselves. Here are three classic interview questions and some of the best response themes we’ve heard:
• “Where do you see yourself in five years?”: This question is asked to determine whether a candidate is growth-oriented. For example, do they have plans to be promoted, to learn more? Do they have a career path in mind and how to get there? In our Phoenix Solutions culture, we place a premium on ongoing learning. Therefore, ideal candidates show enthusiasm for advancement and professional development opportunities.
• “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”: While it’s easy to recite what we see as our strengths, many candidates are nervous about discussing their weaknesses. No one is perfect, and it’s okay to discuss needed improvements. Interviewers are generally impressed by self-awareness.
• “Why should we hire you?”: Our Phoenix Solutions office attracts lots of candidates. This question is an individual’s opportunity to sell himself or herself to the hiring manager. Many people consider this like positioning a product or service, except that it is their own skills and talents they are promoting.
